Valley Society is a Black writers guild exploring the practice of writing as a shared, lived, and land-connected journey.
We believe writing is not just an art, but a method of attention—a way to return to the world more fully. Our gatherings bring Black writers together to observe, reflect, document, and explore. Some write poetry. Some conduct deep research. Some simply listen and walk. All are welcome.
Valley Society is powered by the generosity of its supporters and the commitment of its members. In 2024, we received approximately $23/month through Patreon after platform fees. These modest funds covered essential infrastructure like website hosting and the tools that help us stay connected.
This year, we’re inviting our broader community to help us grow. Your support ensures that Black writers can gather, explore, and create—together.
You choose where your gift goes. Whether you support our writing groups, seasonal writing retreats, or longform research projects, every donation helps shape the future of Valley Society.
